Goods and Services Tax is an indirect tax, which customers pay to the business or seller who forwarded it to the government of India. When customers buy any product or services, they have to pay for it by adding extra GST cost. In India, The Goods and Service Tax Act was approved by the Government on 19th March, 2017 and which came into effect from 1st July, 2017. GST has replaced many indirect taxes in India. Earlier there were many taxes like Central Excise, Service Tax, Luxury Taxes, Entertainment taxand State VATs etc.but now there is only single tax i.e. GST, which is applicable on India level. Government slogan for GST is “One Nation, One Tax”. Goods and Services taxes are divided into five slabs, which are 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%.
